The Avian Ride

Those who know say that February is the best time to see birds in Eufaula. We will be riding in the Kennedy Unit of the Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge. This is the same place that we use for The Gator Ride. The ride will be led by Shawn, our Second Sunday Ride Naturalist.
This is a day-time ride on flat, gravel roads. Wider tires are better than narrower ones. Around ten miles of riding.
Date: Sunday, February 8.
Time: 10:00 AM (Central Time) at the Kennedy Unit of the Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge. The drive from Auburn/Opelika is about one hour.
Road Conditions: All gravel and flat. Wider tires will be better than narrower ones. For snacks and rest rooms, the Peddler Food Store/Gator Gas is on US 431, just past the Kennedy Unit turn.
Bring: Water. Snacks. Insect repellent. Walkin' shoes. Binoculars / Monoculars / Telescopes. Camera. Long-sleeved shirts and long pants will repel insects and the occasional tall plants.

From Auburn/Opelika:
- Take Moore's Mill Rd. to S.R. 169.
- Right on SR 169 to US 431.
- Right on US 431 27 miles to the Kennedy Unit entrance on the left. (Look for a sign on the right shoulder shortly before the left turn. If you reach the Gator Stop gas station/convenience store, you went 0.2 miles too far.)
- Park on the entrance road before the gate.
