Not a Ride … an Adventure!

The Second Sunday Ride is all about having an adventure by bicycle. Each month our rides explore scenic, historic, cultural, and other interesting places or events.
Most rides are within an hour's drive of Auburn, Alabama.
No rides are too long or fast. We tailor them to fit about anyone. Join us!

Our Next Adventure

The Wine Ride
Sunday, June 11, 2023

No blueberries this year due to a late frost nailing most blueberry buds around Lee County.

This year's ride is all about samplin' wine. We’ll meet at Hodge's Vineyards and Winery and park the cars there. Then, ride a nice, 13–mile loop, finishing back at Hodge's, where we'll sample their wines and have a picnic lunch.

The ride is all paved. Remember to pack a picnic lunch. Non-riders are welcome to join us at the Winery.

Date: Sunday, June 11.
Time: 9:00 AM. Meet at Hodges Vineyards and Winery.
Road Conditions: All paved, any bikes/tires will do.
Bring: Water. Treasure to pay for any wine you might buy. Bring a picnic lunch.

Directions to Hodges Vineyards and Winery
GPS: 32.6960, -85.6500
From Auburn: Take Farmville Rd. (CR 72) west past CR 188 and CR 73 to CR 71. Turn left onto CR 71, then the first right is the entrance to Hodge's. Or go past CR 71 and the first left is the other entrance to Hodge's. From Opelika:
  • Take US 280 west to Waverly and Seals St.
  • Left on Seals St., then continue as it becomes CR 9 and CR 73, until you reach CR 72.
  • Turn right onto CR 72. Turn left onto CR 71, then the first right is the entrance to Hodge's. Or go past CR 71 and the first left is the other entrance to Hodge's.

Coronavirus

Residents completely vaccinated (updated June 1):
  • USA: 69%
  • Alabama: 53%
  • Lee County: 42%

On our rides we follow the recommendations and laws for riding during these coronavirus days. Until infections go down and vaccination rates get higher:
  • Keep six feet or more between riders (always a good idea for riding).
  • If one feels the urge to sneeze, cough, expectorate or flatulate we ask that one back off until that special moment has passed.
  • Bring a mask in case you will be unsocially close to others outside or inside buildings or cars.
  • Dining in groups is safer outdoors.
All good things to do in cycling adventures.

Here's an article from Adventure Cycling about cycling during these times. They interview a cyclist who is a Retired Chief Medical Officer of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
