Chattanooga Weekend
October 12–14, 2018
Our first ever ride in Tennessee, Chattanooga offers great bike riding, restaurants and breweries, a world-class aquarium, and more. Chattanooga is a League of American Bicyclists Bicycle Friendly Community (Silver Level). Many of the downtown streets are bike-friendly and there are free, electric shuttle buses running around town every ten minutes. One stop is next to our headquarters hotel.
The Weekend Itinerary
Friday Evening
After arriving and checking in, explore the town by bike, walking, or use the free electric shuttle buses. Those who want will gather at a restaurant downtown.
Saturday
We'll ride the Tennessee River Walk (Tennessee River Park). It's about 13 miles long, from near the Aquarium to the Chickamauga Dam. We'll also explore other local bike trails.
After riding, check out the Tennessee Aquarium, Chattanooga Zoo, Lookout Mountain, or other parts of Chattanooga. Drive Missionary Ridge to learn of the Civil War battle and see a nice view of Chattanooga and Lookout Mountain. Many will gather at a local restaurant for supper together.
Sunday
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and drive to the Chickamauga battlefield. We'll begin at the Visitors Center to watch a short documentary and learn about the battle, then ride the battlefield. Eight to ten easy miles with lots of pull-outs to learn about the battle. Or visit other attractions in the area before heading home.
Lodging
Our Second Sunday Headquarters is the fabulous Days Inn Chattanooga–Rivergate.
