Man O' War Trail

The Man O' War Recreation Trail is a very new rail trail that currently runs 10 miles in Georgia from Pine Mountain to Hamilton, paralleling U.S. Hwy 27. It is all paved, 10-feet wide, and flat, with slight inclines and declines. Easy riding in pretty country, just outside of Callaway Gardens.
It's named for both the famous race horse and the rail line that once ran from Columbus to Atlanta. Many of us hope it may one day be part of a trail including Columbus, Hamilton, Pine Mountain, and parts north.
Meet near the Visitor Center in downtown Pine Mountain.
Date: Sunday, February 11
Time: 10:00 AM Alabama Time, 11:00 AM Georgia Time.
Road Conditions: All paved. Our out-and-back ride will be about 27 miles long. Turn back early if you're looking for a shorter round-trip.
Bring: Water. Treasure for lunch if you like.

From Auburn/Opelika:
- Take I-85 North to Georgia Exit 2.
- Turn right onto SR-18 towards Pine Mountain, West Point for 17 miles.
- Left onto SR-18 (an entrance to Callaway Gardens is on the right).
- Left onto Main St. / US-27 for a few hundred feet.
- Turn right at Broad St. or Chipley St. and park on Commerce St. or in the nearby commercial parking lots. The Visitor Center has rest rooms.
