Silver Comet Trail (Hiram towards Rockmart)
Saturday, October 9
The Silver Comet Trail is a continuous, paved 62–mile rail-trail, 12-foot wide, mostly flat grade from Cobb County, Georgia to the Alabama stateline, west of Cedartown. It has restrooms, signs, benches and trash receptacles along the way. It features breathtaking trestles, a 700 foot-long tunnel, some of the most beautiful vistas in Georgia and passes through or very near four towns with restaurants and shops.
We will be riding the section from Hiram west towards Rockmart, including the 700 foot–long tunnel. Being an out–and–back trail, you can turn around and return for whatever distance you like (see distances below).
Date: Saturday, October 9, 2021.
Time: 10:00 am Central Time, 11:00 Eastern Time at the Hiram Trailhead. (The drive from Auburn/Opelika is a bit over two hours.)
Road Conditions: All paved. Any bikes/tires will be fine.
Bring: Water. Snacks. Treasure for outdoor dining.
