Yoholo Micco Trail
Sunday, May 14, 2023
The Yoholo Micco Trail traverses grassy meadows, mixed woodlands, past a (hidden) waterfall, across a former railroad bridge skirting the shoreline of Lake Eufaula, through a residential section of the historic City of Eufaula, and Old Creek Town Park. This rail trail was named in honor of Yoholo, the Creek Chief of Old Eufaula Town. (Micco is the Muscogean [Creek] word for chief.) Watch a virtual tour.
This delightful trail has been developed by the community and is very popular for biking, walking, jogging, and bird watching. It connects downtown Eufaula with neighborhoods, schools, and recreation facilities. A great example of what can be done by small and large communities.
At Tree Hugger Park we'll park the bikes and walk the short trail descending to the waterfall. Bring walking footwear.
Off of the downtown portion of the Trail, we'll cruise the historic homes in the area and see The Tree That Owns Itself.
Picnic lunch afterwards at Old Creek Town Park. Or visit the downtown restaurants.
Date: Sunday, May 13. Mothers Day – bring the whole family.
Time: 10:00 AM at Old Creek Town Park.
Road Conditions: All paved, any bikes/tires will do. About 12 miles total.
Bring: Water. Walkin' shoes. Camera. Birding scope. Picnic lunch or treasure for local food.
